Feel like an old man at 40?

Speak to a consultant endocrinologist.

Private TRT in Harrogate, led by Dr Chris Philbey

Struggling with fatigue, brain fog or low mood?

We provide consultant endocrinologist-led testosterone replacement therapy.
Proper diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care all under one roof in Harrogate.

Why your GP says you're "normal", but you don't feel it

I see men every week whose testosterone test came back "normal" while they feel knackered, foggy and done in. Both can be true. The NHS range is wide and only catches clear deficiency, so the bottom of it still gets waved through as "fine".

I'm Dr Chris Philbey. At Kliniken in Harrogate I read your bloods against how you actually feel, not just where you land on a chart. If your numbers sit in the grey zone but you feel low testosterone every single day, that's the conversation I want to have and right now this is the only consultant endocrinologist-led private TRT clinic in North Yorkshire.

Why a consultant endocrinologist matters

Most private TRT clinics are run by GPs working from a fixed protocol. I'm a consultant endocrinologist. Hormones are my specialism, not a sideline.

That matters when your case isn't textbook. High SHBG, a thyroid problem sitting underneath, a borderline result that needs a judgement call. Those are the cases a protocol misses and a specialist catches.

At Kliniken in Harrogate you see me from your first consultation through every review. No call centre, no rotating prescriber, no being passed from one name to the next.

Your TRT pathway, start to finish

  1. Step 01

Book your first consultation. We sit down and talk through your symptoms and what's been dragging you down. £250, no rush, no script read at you.

  2. Step 02

Get your bloods done. A full baseline panel: testosterone, SHBG, PSA, FBC, liver and kidney function, lipids. Already had bloods recently? Bring them and we may use those instead.

  3. Step 03

Review with me. I read your numbers against how you actually feel and tell you straight whether TRT is right for you.

  4. Step 04

Start treatment. If your bloods are ready, you can have your first injection the same day. If not, you pop back for a quick follow-up.

  5. Step 05

Ongoing injections. Our nurses give them here in clinic at Kliniken in Harrogate, never posted to your door.

His contributions leading to change in the standards of national care in the NHS.

What makes Kliniken different

A specialist, not a protocol.

You see a consultant endocrinologist, not a GP following a fixed script.

Everything under one roof.

Diagnosis, treatment and every review happen in one place at Kliniken in Harrogate.

Start the same day.

Bring recent bloods and you can have your first injection at your first visit.

Injections done here.

Our nurses give them in clinic, never posted to your door.

Borderline cases welcome.

If your testosterone sits in the grey zone, I look at your symptoms, not just the cut-off.

Monitored properly.

I check your levels every appointment and your wider bloods across the year, so nothing gets missed.

Borderline results and why I won't just send you away

So many men come to me after the same experience. Bloods done, told they're "within range", sent on their way. Nobody asked how they actually felt.

The standard threshold for testosterone is strict and it ignores how much levels vary from one man to the next. A reading of 15 is low for a man in his twenties. It's also low if you've always carried a high SHBG. The number on its own never tells the whole story.

What you were told

You're within range.

Sent away with no answer.

What we ask

But how do you actually feel?

Symptoms come first.

For those with borderline results, we establish whether the symptoms could be down to testosterone and offer a treatment trial.

Dr Chris Philbey, Consultant Endocrinologist

If you've been turned away before, that isn't the end of the road here. I look at the whole picture, symptoms and all, then we work out the right step together.

Safety, side effects and honest answers

01

Will I be on TRT for life?

Possibly. If your body has stopped making enough testosterone, replacing it is usually a long-term commitment. We will tell you that before you start the treatment, not after.

02

What if it doesn't work or makes me feel worse?

It doesn't suit every man. That's why we start low, review your bloods, check how you feel and adjust the dose. If it isn't helping, we stop and rethink.

03

Is TRT bad for my heart?

It's the question we get asked most and is taken it seriously. The evidence is reassuring when TRT is properly monitored. That supervision is the whole point.

04

Will it affect my fertility?

It can. TRT can lower sperm production and shrink testicular size while you're on it. If you're planning on having children, let us know at the start, because we can plan around it.

05

What happens if I come off it?

Your own production can dip for a while after stopping, sometimes below where it began. So we never stop abruptly. If you want to come off, we do it in a managed way.

06

Will I pay and just get turned away?

You'll never pay for a treatment we don't think you need. If TRT isn't right for you, we will let you know.

Frequently asked questions

What is TRT?

TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) tops up the testosterone your body isn't making enough of. It's a prescription treatment, monitored throughout.

How do I know if I have low testosterone?

Common signs are fatigue, low mood, brain fog, low sex drive & loss of strength. A blood test confirms it, but how you feel matter as much as the numbers on the sheet.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you can book a consultation with Dr Philbey directly, no GP referral required. Call the clinic on 01423206388 or email info@kliniken.co.uk for information.

Can I use blood tests I've already had done?

Yes. Bring recent bloods test reports to your first consultation & we may be able to use them.

How is TRT given at Kliniken?

By injection, given by our nurses here in Harrogate. Nothing is posted to your door.

How often will I need injections?

It depends on the protocol that suits you. Some patients inject every few weeks, others on a longer cycle. We set the rhythm around your bloods.

When will I know if it's working?

We review your symptoms & your bloods at every appointment, so we track it together rather than guess.

Is TRT available on the NHS?

Sometimes, but only if you meet a strict threshold. Many patients who feel unwell still sit just inside the "normal" range & don't qualify.

How much does private TRT cost?

Your first consultation is £300 & follow-ups are £200. Injections £600 includes blood test.

Where is the clinic?

Kliniken is in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, the only consultant endocrinologist-led private TRT clinic in the region.

Is TRT safe?

It's well established & safe when supervised by a experienced consultant. Your bloods will be monitored throughout to keep it that way.

Can I have treatment the same day?

Yes, can have your first treatment the same day straight after your consultation with the surgeon.

Ready to find out if TRT is right for you?

Book a consultation with me at Kliniken in Harrogate. We'll go through your symptoms & your bloods. You'll get a straight answer either way.
