Keloids are formed by the excessive production of collagen in an attempt to heal the body. This overproduction of collagen results in raised, thickened areas of tissue at the site of injury which can be quite shiny and may have colour ranging from light pink to almost black.

    The itching, tightness and pain associated with keloids tend to dramatically decrease as well. In many cases, this provides the most significant benefit in terms of improving your quality of life, even when your keloid has not fully healed.

The recovery rate is factored on the type of treatment being utilized. Steroid injections create no downtime. Therefore, you can go back to your usual routine immediately after receiving an injection. However, the area where the steroid was injected could be slightly sore for approximately 2-3 days. Surgical removal of the keloid usually takes 1-14 days of healing.
