What Is a Browlift?

A browlift, also known as a forehead lift, is a cosmetic procedure designed to elevate sagging brows, reduce forehead wrinkles, and improve the upper face’s overall appearance. Over time, age and skin elasticity cause the brows to droop, leading to a tired or stern appearance. By undergoing a brow enhancement procedure, patients can achieve natural-looking brow rejuvenation that leaves them looking rested, refreshed, and more youthful. The most modern approach is the endoscopic brow lift procedure, which is minimally invasive and results in smaller scars and faster recovery times.

Are You a Candidate for Browlift Surgery?

You may be wondering whether a browlift is the right procedure for you. A consultation with our Harrogate-based plastic surgeons will answer any questions and determine whether a browlift will help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Ideal candidates for this procedure are:

  • People whose brows have begun to sag due to ageing
  • Those who notice deep horizontal wrinkles across their forehead or vertical lines between their eyebrows
  • Patients looking to achieve forehead rejuvenation but still maintain a natural appearance
  • Adults who are in good health and do not smoke, as smoking can impact healing

Benefits of Forehead Lift Surgery

A browlift offers more than just a cosmetic enhancement. With all the benefits below, it’s no wonder so many people opt for forehead lift surgery:

  • Youthful Appearance – Instantly achieve a younger, revitalised look by lifting drooping brows and smoothing out forehead lines.
  • Improved Vision – Some patients notice sagging brows interfere with their eyesight. A browlift can improve your field of vision.
  • Enhanced Expressions – Eliminate the appearance of looking permanently tired, worried, or angry by rejuvenating your brows.
  • Boosted Confidence – Feel more confident and self-assured in your day-to-day interactions.
  • Experience noticeable sagging skin, deep folds, or turkey neck
  • Wish to refine and enhance the contours of their neck.
  • Are generally in good health and have realistic expectations for the procedure

What You Can Expect During Your Browlift Appointment

At Kliniken, our browlift surgery process is tailored to each patient’s needs for optimal results. However, in general, you can expect:

  • Consultation – During your consultation, we’ll discuss your concerns, evaluate your facial features, and recommend the best approach for you.

  • Anaesthesia – Most browlifts are performed under local anaesthesia or sedation to ensure you remain comfortable.

  • Procedure – The surgery usually takes between one and two hours. Your UK-trained plastic surgeon will make small incisions along the hairline. We’ll then carefully and precisely lift and reposition brow tissue for a subtle, natural-looking result instead of an artificial “pulled” look.

  • Aftercare – We’ll provide comprehensive instructions for taking care of yourself once you return home.

  • Natural-Looking Results – By targeting underlying muscle layers, this approach avoids the over-pulled or artificial look often associated with traditional lifts.

  • Long-Lasting Improvements – The deep plane technique ensures results that last for years by addressing structural concerns rather than just surface-level issues.

  • Enhanced Definition – Achieve a sleek, refined jawline and a more defined neck contour.

  • Comprehensive Rejuvenation – It effectively tackles multiple signs of ageing, such as sagging, wrinkles, and fat deposits.

Recovery and Aftercare Following a Browlift

Post-surgery is one of the most common concerns, but we’re here to walk you through it. We’ll give you complete aftercare instructions to monitor your recovery and ensure you’re healing as expected. After your browlift procedure, there will be swelling and bruising. These symptoms are normal and should subside after about a week. It’s then that you’ll start noticing results. It’s best to avoid showering for the first 48 hours after surgery, and you’ll need about two weeks of downtime to rest and recover before resuming your normal activities. Any scars will be discreet and should fade over time, leaving you with natural-looking results that shave years off your appearance.

The Costs of Brow Enhancement

The cost of a brow enhancement will differ from patient to patient based on the technique and complexity of the procedure. However, Kliniken offers competitive, transparent pricing that typically ranges from £2,150 to £4,950. We’ll break down your costs during a consultation so that you can make an informed decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to our frequently asked questions

Patients can typically have a browlift performed and go home the same day.

Patients can have the procedure under local anaesthetic or can be asleep with a general anaesthetic. The incision for a browlift is directly above the top line of the eyebrow.

Patients who are constantly having to use their forehead muscles due to being unable to see clearly at the edges of their visual fields.

This can result in significant creasing on the forehead, and in those patients who have had anti-wrinkle treatment, the drop in the brow can cause significant problems.

Some patients may have a genetic predisposition to this (Young people with heavy brows) or most commonly, age-related dropping of the brow.

When patients come into the clinic, our UK-trained plastic surgeon makes a full assessment of the patient.

This includes any relevant history, including reasons for surgery and a thorough examination of the brow and the upper eyelid itself.

Part of this process is explaining to the patients what can be done, why, and what to expect, based on each patients’ anatomy and suitability for each type of browlift.

Patients tend to notice an immediate improvement in the visual field.

The swelling after surgery occurs for the first 48 hours and after this stage, it improves. We see patients one week after surgery to check on the them and remove any visible stitches.

By 2 weeks patients feel brighter and fresher. Once safe, patients are let out of the clinic with close follow up arranged to ensure improvements would happen as anticipated.

The use of anti-wrinkle injections can be used to help the muscle that lifts the brow, with effects lasting for 3 to 6 months this depends on the muscle mass.

Surgically, there are a number of different types of browlifts available from open, endoscopic, endotine and direct browlifts.

Patients can check their suitability for a browlift by asking another person to show where the eyebrows sit when the patient’s eyes are closed and the forehead is relaxed.

If the brow is below the bony prominence, they would likely benefit from a browlifting procedure.
