Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to our frequently asked questions

Patients can typically have a cheek lift performed and go home the same day.

Patients can have the procedure under local anaesthetic & sedation or can be asleep with a general anaesthetic.

The incision for a cheek lift is under the lash line of the lower eyelid, avoiding damage to the hair itself.

This may extend to the side of the lower eyelid, towards the “crow’s feet” area.

Patients who have a lost volume or have noticed the prominence over the cheek has reduced or drifted lower would benefit from a cheek lift.

In these cases, some patients may notice more prominent grooves from the nose to the side of the mouth (Nasolabial grooves).

In addition, patients may find that the area below the lower eyelid has puffiness or deeper grooves close to the side of the nose, with extra skin around the entire area.

Some patients may have a genetic predisposition to this or most commonly, gravity & age-related changes.

When patients come into the clinic, our UK-trained plastic surgeon, makes a full assessment of the patient.

This includes any relevant history, including reasons for surgery and a thorough examination including the lower eyelid area, cheeks and middle & lower parts of the face.

Part of this process is explaining to the patients what can be done, why, and what to expect, based on each patients’ anatomy and suitability for each type of cheek lift.

Patients tend to notice an immediate improvement in the cheek position & lower eyelid skin.

The swelling after surgery occurs for the first 48 hours and after this stage, it improves.

We see patients one week after surgery to check on the patients and remove any visible stitches.

By 2 weeks patients feel brighter and fresher.

Once safe, patients are let out of the clinic with close follow up arranged to ensure improvements would happen as anticipated.

At the early stages of volume loss in the cheeks, a lot of patients choose to have dermal fillers injected to provide volume for the cheek or in the nasolabial folds, to make them less prominent.

This may work early on but cannot deal with the effects of gravity.
